Our centre is in Gosforth (map), about two miles north of Newcastle city centre, at Amida Sanctuary, which is a few minutes walk from Gosforth High Street.
Who?
The group is led by Rev Sujatin Johnson, an Acharya (Senior Minister, an ordained priest) with the Amida Order.
When?
Our regular meetings are on Tuesday evenings from 7 - 9 pm (except during the summer months). Please check updates (from 'Events and Meetings' along the top of the site) for any changes to the schedule.
Note i: All visits at other times by appointment only
Note ii: We do not have disabled access
Note iii: Important: if coming by car, please park on the other side of the street, where parking is free for 2 hours prior to 6:30pm and unrestricted after 6:30pm. Parking is restricted on our side of the road.
Cost
By donation - suggested amount £2 - 4 per person per meeting. We are happy to accept donations to cover Amida Newcastle costs, towards sponsorship by the sangha of a child in Nepal through ActionAid, and to support Amida projects around the world.
Newcastle and Northumbria Universities
Rev Sujatin is the Buddhist Chaplain at Newcastle University, where she runs guided 'Meditation For Relaxation' sessions for students and staff - these are held at Newcastle University Chaplaincy during term time.
Rev Sujatin is also Buddhist Chaplain at Northumbria University and holds Meditation For Relaxation sessions and Introduction to Buddhism lessons at Northumbria University Chaplaincy during term time.
