6th Living Buddhism Conference: Culturally Engaged Buddhism'

Welcome to the Sixth Living Buddhism Conference.

Ph_tbh2

As with previous events in this series, we are looking forward to an exciting gathering of minds and hearts as members of the Amida community, friends, colleagues and those who share our many interests, come together to share their delight in Culturally Engaged Buddhism. In the West, Buddhism's flowering will be through its integration with culture. This will happen on many levels: through ideas, through arts, through social movements and through religious dialogue. Amida Trust has always been at the hub of such discussion, always engaged and sometimes contraversial. We celebrate the search for excellence and truth in its many forms and the manifestations of Pureland Buddhist thought in practical and social settings.

Culturally engaged Buddhism is the hallmark of Amida Trust's work in Europe, Asia and North America. At this conference we will have presentations and workshops that reflect this dynamic process and explore its principles and practice. The conference will provide opportunities for participants to witness the diversity of work in the field and to share their own experiences of applied Buddhism. It will be a place for newcomers to become familiar with the topics presented and for old friends to meet as a sangha. It will provide a space for all of us to renew our resolve to go forth for the good of the many following the inspiration of the message of the Buddhas.

Dates: May 12, 2011 to May 15, 2011
