This was Colin's news from March 27th

Today the Pure Land Gardeners have been working on the allotment. As we are gardening organically we are using the ''raised bed system'' as a way to construct the area. Today we have begun to plan and mark the area where each bed will be situated. There will be six beds in all, five of the beds will each represent one of the five Buddhas and one of the beds will represent Quan Yin.

In the centre of the Mandala we plan to place a stone sitting Shakyamuni which will sit next to a shrub or small bush that we are going to plant in memory of Irene.

We also have been planting potatoes, which given the consistency of the soil was hard work. Fortunately, Jenny, brought some lovely Taiwan vegetable rice for lunch. We also shared Rachel's oranges and American candy. A meeting of international flavours in the suburbs of Tyneside.

More Work

Last Saturday we  continued  with our work in the garden. Sally, Rachel, and  myself, planted  some leeks and also continued to put together the wooden planks  that are to be used for the  frames for the raised bed system.

Even though this is hard work the experience remains more than positive. Sharing with others as we take forward our vision.
