Picture Memories

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't get these up sooner, but here are some pictures from the planting of Irene's rose bush.  The first three are of Colin and Sally preparing the soil and then planting the rose.  The last one is of the rose bush, standing alone and ready to take on the challenge of making one of the most difficult corners (soil-speaking) beautiful.  If you look closely, you can also see a potato bed behind the rose bush.  That bed was the first one that was planted on the allotment and already there are little green leaves popping up!  Hooray!

I'd like to add a little bit and say that I didn't know Irene, but I'm thankful for this place that she - through her memory- is providing.  From the beginning, the garden has been a safe and peaceful place.  I've throughly enjoyed the sense of support and community that I have found there.  Thank you.

:-) Rachel

More Work

Last Saturday we  continued  with our work in the garden. Sally, Rachel, and  myself, planted  some leeks and also continued to put together the wooden planks  that are to be used for the  frames for the raised bed system.

Even though this is hard work the experience remains more than positive. Sharing with others as we take forward our vision.
