....it comes and goes. Sometimes you feel it and sometimes you don't. Eventually you learn to have faith that the faith is still there, but there are clouds hiding it.

There's an interesting and provocative article in today's by Sam Harris that touches on Mother Theresa's spiritual crisis. It's so sad when people equate theism with spirituality and then experience such torment when they doubt the existence of God.

I wish I could remember who said it. It was a Catholic, I think. She went to mass twice a week, without fail, and when a friend said to her, "I wish I had your faith," she answered, in some surprise, "But I don't go to church because I have faith. I go to church so that if faith does come along, I'll be in the right place."
