Here's a beautiful description of Susthama's experience of the 24 hour nembutsu chanting at the start of the Bodhi retreat:

The Bodhi retreat is the high point of my year. I spend all year looking forward to it and then when it comes I lap up all the love I can get from Amida, order members, school members, and newcomers. There is a certain atmosphere that is generated from the people who come to these retreats, especially in December when the weather is cold outside - and the days are short while the nights long. On the outside looking in, it looks wonderfully cozy and inviting; all huddled together with Amida, in a big room lit up with candles.

Qu: Can u tell me about creativity at The Buddhist House?
Dh: Well, TBH is a creation in itself. I don't mean the fabric of the building - tho that did involve a lot of repairing and painting and the usage of the rooms is a flexible ever changing evolution. I mean more the community itself.

Mudita and Ian's baby has a name - Jake. Here he is with his Dad.

new buddhist - ceremony at amida newcastle for ivan

Yesterday evening we held a Taking Refuge ceremony for Ivan Presho, whereby he was confirmed as being a Buddhist. It was a lovely evening with our local sangha in very good heart. I was celebrant and Rachel Abel was Bellmaster.
