Yesterday I talked by phone to Modgala, who's at Amida France. Someone who's living at the Buddhist House was due to go out to join her last week but his plans have changed. So there are a few things she asked me to take out with me when I travel on Wednesday/Thursday. Tea bags and soya beans - I'll pick them up from 'Out of This World' tomorrow. And there are no Chant Books out there.
As I only have a few here I decided to plug in the scanner, which came in a package with this Evesham computer, but I have never needed to use. Hmm...scanning the 21 pages we'll need was no problem. But putting the pages into Word seemed to jam up the programme every page. And then I couldn't cut and paste into my e-mail programme (I don't send attachments). Printing, as they still seemed to be recognised as pictures rather than Word documents, was going to take an age. Six hours - yes, six hours and to no avail!
So I took the book down to the photography shop on the High Street, to photocopy - 8 copies of 21 pages at 10p per sheet - and the machine jammed so many times that it took half an hour. But they're done! And I'll put each set into folders in the morning.
Then another 3/4 hour in the Post Office to send all the parcels of Dharma Talk tapes, birthday parcels and cards for family, bills I'm paying, returned jacket to mail order company (too bright), letters I owe - 41 different items - plus the E111 form for health while I''m abroad.
Well - that's a whole lot of items to cross off the 'to do list'.
